Issue 43
7 March 2012
Sixth form colleges will receive letters, by post, on a short, but technically necessary consultation on Modification Orders that will amend sixth form college Instruments and Articles of Government from 1 April 2012.
The orders are a legal necessity to enable sixth form colleges to exercise the new powers that will be afforded to them on commencement of the Education Act 2011, including the power to modify or replace their own Instrument and Articles.
The time to consult is unusually short because of the closure of the YPLA. The letters provide a full explanation for the consultation. Responses are requested by Tuesday 20 March 2012. The text of the letter, a Q&A brief and the four draft Modification Orders are available on the YPLA website.
